Te first episode hit our small screens on Friday the 5th of February and more episodes are to follow.
Identities Media TV in partnership with Saywhat Organisation successfully launched the much anticipated new show, ‘The Lens’ on Friday the 5th of February.
The Lens which airs every Friday at 7pm on Identities Media TV on Facebook, is one show to definitely put on your radar if you are interested in hot topics, according to how the youth view them.
The premiered episode feateared Anna Sande, Ebson Munhumumwe and Thembani Khumalo from Saywhat as they tackled the issue of mental health and wellness among Youths after ending a relationship. Over the years breakups have been downplayed as ‘unimportant’, but many have sank into life threatening depressions due to them.
Anna emphasised the need for parents to take the breakups Youths go through seriously as they affect every other part of their daily lives.
“We need to realize that they are real and they affect every psychological part of a human being”, she said.
“This is not something to joke about, it will affect you mentally”.
Ebson stressed the importance of opening up to anyone you are close with even if they are not your parents. He said “Culture and tradition, it’s very hard to speak to our parents about these issues but I can freely speak to my friend about it”.
On the other end, the need for responsibility where issues of dating and relationships are concerned among Youths was also highlighted in the show.
“It is also a problem that us as young people we are not forth coming….. We are afraid to tell our parents”, Thembani said.
In this regard it is important for Youths to also take their decisions when getting in or out of relationships of they are to be taken seriously by their parents or guardians.
The Lens talk show seems like the heart and soul of burning Youth issues and Fridays will definitely be the day to look forward to.
