Our #Sunshine Personality today is multi-award winning gospel singer and songwriter, Janet Manyowa.
Born in Chegutu on March 18,1985, singing was something she showed great interest and potential in from a very young age.
Her parents are said to have identified her love for music earlier on and ultimately sent her to music school at the age of ten.
Her career started when she was leading praise and worship in her hometown church.
Janet Manyowa released her debut album titled ’King of Glory’ in 2015 followed by her second album,‘Grateful ’ in 2018, marking her as a force to be reckoned with in the male dominated music industry.
She has been listed among the 100 most influential young Zimbabweans under 40 as well as the 50 most inspirational Women in Zimbabwe according to the Institute of Corporate Directors in Zimbabwe. In 2020, Janet Manyowa was appointed brand ambassador for ZB Bank Limited and Rainbow Tourism Group.
Over the years, she has scooped over 20 awards and has been nominated over 40 times. Some of these awards are:
-Best Newcomer 2015—Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA)
-Best Album 2016— PERMICAN Gospel Award
-Best of Africa 2017 (nominee)— SABC Crown Gospel Awards
-Outstanding Female Musician 2017— NAMA (National Arts Merit Awards)
-Gospel Song of the year 2018(Zadzisa) — Star FM Music Awards
-Outstanding Female Musician 2019 – National Arts Merit Awards[22]
-Best Female Musician 2021 – Zimbabwe Music Awards
Last weekend, she did what she does best and scooped the Best Contemporary Gospel and Best Music Video award at the Zimbabwe Music Awards(ZIMA).
An accountant by profession,Janet is a dotting wife to Munyaradzi Manyowa and together they were blessed with 3 children, Matipa, Waishe and Mufaro Manyowa.
