In this edition of ‘You Must Know Them’, we feature 3 amazing young women who are part of the UNESCO Resilient Accelerator Program which aims to uplift female artists and equip them with business skills and opportunities.
Prudence Grace Nyahangare is a young Contemporary Artist who has represented Zimbabwe in Hong Kong. Identities Media was privileged to get to talk to the artist about her hopes and dreams for the arts industry.
ID: Tell us about yourself
PGN: My name is Prudence Grace Nyahangare . I’m a Contemporary Artist aged 26 and I have represented Zimbabwe at Full Circle Symposium Hong Kong in 2017.
I also got selected to be part of the UNESCO Resiliart Accelerator Program the first of its kind in Zimbabwe which is a Program uplifting female artists and equipping them with business skills and opportunities
I have Exhibited in many Art Galleries both here in Zimbabwe and internationally and I recently opened my own Arts Association (GrayN Arts Association) which specializes in teaching art to Women and less fortunate children.
I would like to be remembered as a woman making a difference in the Arts industry and representing my country positively
ID: What drives the work that you do?
PGN: My work is inspired by social struggles which includes mental health issues, gender based violence, women empowerment, early child marriages among other topics
ID : What do you see in the near future
PGN: I see a better Zimbabwe with more empowered women in the Arts Business
ID: What are your parting words and advise
PGN: Arts are as important as breathing
