Yesterday on one local radio station during their news bulletin of the late President Robert Mugabe, they played voices of people who seemed distressed as they mourned and voices of cries could be heard for the death of the late former president.
The former president died at a full age of 95, and is marked by lots of controversies after ruling Zimbabwe for more than 37 years and leaving the country on its knees economically, socially and to make matters worse, he dies an aggrieved man after being forced out of the presidency, and seems to believe he should have held on to power at the old age.
While the Mugabe family seems to believe that they should have ruled Zimbabwe and continued with their influence, one wonders whether the Zimbabwe education assists the amount of youths who have become the primary victims of both the past and present corruption, mismanagement and hardship.
In the two videos you view here, one young man outrightly lied in the video that the rulership of the former president had laid opportunities for economic empowerment for him.
He is seen braaing meat and says he the meat is from his farm, and that his farming is due to the efforts for youth empowerment by the former president.
After recording him on video, the young man revealed that he infact was buying the products locally in Harare. One wonders why the youths continue lying to make someone look good when they actually did not help them?
The second guy who seems to be mourning would immediately get into making the ‘mourning face’ each time the camera seemed to come his way. It is clear that his own life is not ok economically, and and moments later he would be seen smoking cigarettes while shying away from the camera.
All these young people are pretending to put a face of goodness where it shouldn’t be. The question that seems the answer is: when young people agree to be used political to push a certain agenda, who are they fooling? What narrating are they promoting and how is it impacting on their lives?
