Kasukuwere’s Run For Presidency Shortlived

­Just In; The High Court of Zimbabwe has prohibited independent presidential candidate, Saviour Kasukuwere, from running in the August 23, 2023 harmonised elections.

The court says he stopped being a registered voter when he was abroad for more than 18 months.

The former minister and political commissar under the late former president Robert Mugabe’s regime announced his candidature for the presidency in general elections slated for 23 August a few says before the nomination court.

Prior to that, 53-year-old Kasukuwere had been exiled in South Africa since the November 2017 coup. He briefly returned home a year after the coup but fled to South Africa again.
