Imelda Tsumba, a local prolific writer, says her new book “Secret Power of the Media” is a response to the internet which has exposed many children to dangers associated with unregulated material.
Speaking during the launch for her book in Harare, Tsumba said society will lose many generations to the internet in the foreseeable future.“
“If you notice we are in very advanced technology era so we are also losing a generation as our children are watching pornography on computers, television and on their phones,” she said.
She added that one has to be wary of the content that is being churned out by media and be able to gate keep harmful material.
Through the use of various biblical illustrations, Tsumba showed how mainstream and social media are shaping the thoughts of everyone across generations.
“This book helps our children to navigate this jungle we are living and one key message is of Eve was given by the snake in the Garden of Eden and there are so many snakes that are giving us the wrong information,” she added.
She urged the public to help the next generation so that we don’t lose children due to media consumption. Other authors who graced the event congratulated Tsumba on her dedication as an author with others looking at her as their mentor.
Edna Mukurazhizha who has penned three books so far said she is privileged to be mentored by Pastor Imelda and she had taught her how to be a dutiful and prayerful woman.
“She taught me that as a woman, a mother and a wife you cannot afford to sleep at eight up to six and eat every day … I am the woman I am because you taught me how it’s done,” commented Edna.
Some of the books penned by Pastor Imelda Tsumba include The seasoning in life’s cuisine, How to plan a successful party, HIV is no longer a death sentence and The battle of mind is real just to mention a few with some of them given away at the launch.
Two renowned gospel artists graced the event with both of them giving their marvelous performances.Takesure Zamar Ncube and Janet Manyowa gave wonderful performances which kept all the audiences at their feet dancing and praying along the session.
