Popular gospel musician Stanley Gwanzura, widely known as Pastor G, officially headlined the debut album launch of Cleopatra Mhete (Cleo Arie) titled ‘Purpose’ Saturday in Harare.
Speaking during the event, Pastor G urged Mhete to pursue her calling with confidence and not be discouraged by public opinion.
Cleopatra Mhete is a rising Zimbabwean artist known for her unique style and flair. Blending gospel with Afrobeats, R&B, and contemporary gospel sounds, she continues to stand out in a fast-growing industry while carving her own path to success. Renowned for her velvety vocals and signature pointed sunglasses, Cleo Arie is increasingly in demand as a performer.
“When I heard her sing, I knew God had placed something special in you, Cleo. You are the leader of the gospel new school, I declare and decree that today. Do not be afraid to do what you do, and never apologize for your ‘Purpose’,” he said.
The launch was attended by several young gospel performers, including Jason Gwanzura, Tanatswa, Taffie Rue, The Ammartian, and others. The Joyful Praise Choir, as well as Sharon Cherayi, also delivered standout performances.
Pastor G said the foundation of Christian life and gospel music is Jesus Christ.
“We can come here and sing, dance, shout, and jump up and down, but if Jesus is not in our hearts, there will come a day of separation,” he said.
He also reiterated on purpose and calling, commending and encouraging Mhete for the album.
“There are two things I want you to understand as the leader of the new school that life is a test and life is a trust. You are going through a journey in life. Those whom God tests, He trusts. You cannot be trusted by God to do what you do until He has tested you.”
The album ‘Purpose’ consists of nine tracks and features collaborations with prominent Zimbabwean artists, including Minister Michael Mahendere, Takura, and Brian K, among others.
Tracks on the album include Testimony, Shine Your Light, Thank You Jesus, Hallelujah, and more.
He also emphasized on the importance of having a calling, citing that one cannot live life without a clear sense of purpose.
Cleo Arie and her husband expressed gratitude for the strong turnout, describing the launch as a dream come true and thanking supporters for their presence and encouragement.
