The Mbudzi Interchange has officially been renamed Trabablas Interchange in honor of President Mnangagwa, reflecting appreciation for his significant contributions to development, as announced by Cabinet yesterday.
Previously, the Mbudzi Roundabout was infamous for severe traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours, making it challenging for motorists to navigate. In response to this issue, President Mnangagwa initiated plans for an expedited upgrade, which is nearing completion.
During the post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere noted that the name change, proposed by Minister of Justice, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi in his role as Acting Chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on Place Names, received Cabinet approval.
Minister Muswere stated, “Upon completion, the Mbudzi Interchange will be named ‘Trabablas Interchange’ in recognition of the visionary leadership of His Excellency the President Cde Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.”
Additionally, Cabinet approved the renaming of several military facilities, including Headquarters 1 Infantry Brigade, Headquarters Bulawayo District, and the Zimbabwe School of Infantry Army Barracks, as presented by Minister Ziyambi.
Following the promulgation of a Defence Cantonment Notice in 2017, it has been decided that these Army Barracks will maintain their original names. Consequently, Headquarters 1 will now be known as Khumalo Barracks, Headquarters Bulawayo District will retain its name as Imbizo Barracks, and the Zimbabwe School of Infantry will be renamed Lookout Masuku Barracks.
