Harare Police Officers Denied Bail in Bribery Scandal Captured on Video.

A Harare magistrate, Mrs. Marehwanazvo Gofa, has denied bail to two police officers, Sergeant James Chifamba (46) and Constable Trymore Mukunza (36), who were caught on video accepting bribes from kombis, pirate taxis, and registered public vehicles. The officers were arrested earlier this month and are facing charges of criminal abuse of office.

The video, which circulated widely on social media, shows the officers allegedly taking money from drivers while on duty at the Mabvuku Turn-off along the Harare-Mutare Road. The hidden camera footage reportedly captured them accepting bribes from over ten motorists.

Chifamba and Mukunza have been remanded in custody until December 6, as investigations continue into their conduct. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about corruption within the police force and the impact it has on public trust and safety.
