Mutare Woman Arrested After Disturbing Video of Child Abuse Goes Viral.

A 30-year-old woman from Mutare has been apprehended following a disturbing incident involving her 10-month-old daughter that garnered significant attention online.

The case came to light when a short video surfaced, showing the woman striking her child with a stick while instructing her to crawl. The footage, which depicted the baby crying, sparked outrage on social media and prompted swift action from authorities.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the incident occurred in Temberere Village, Zimunya, on Friday. The police took immediate steps to address the situation after the video went viral, highlighting the community’s concern for child welfare.

Following her arrest, the woman acknowledged her actions in another video, attributing her behavior to frustrations over the child’s father allegedly not providing financial support. This incident has drawn attention to the importance of support systems for vulnerable families.

In a broader context, this arrest coincides with the recent imprisonment of three women from Nyanga for separate cases of abuse, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to violence against children.
