Justice Served in Mutoko: Man Sentenced for Crimes Against His Daughters.

In a significant step towards justice, a 35-year-old man from Mutoko, Mashonaland East Province, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the rape of his two young daughters, aged 7 and 5. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed the outcome of the case, highlighting the courage of the children and the swift actions taken by the community.

The case was brought to light after a local councillor received an anonymous tip-off on March 18, 2024. Following this, the councillor took the initiative to speak with the children, who bravely disclosed the distressing events that had occurred between December 2023 and March 2022024.

The accused faced two counts of rape, having committed these heinous acts during the night and early mornings before the children left for school. Despite threats made to silence them, the children’s bravery and the community’s support played a crucial role in bringing the truth to light.

The Mutoko Magistrates’ Court has sentenced the man to 15 years for each count, resulting in a total of 30 years in prison. This case underscores the importance of speaking out against abuse and highlights the role of community vigilance in protecting the vulnerable.
