46-Year-Old Man on the Run After Allegedly Raping and Impregnating 15-Year-Old Girl.

A 46-year-old man from Murehwa is currently evading capture after allegedly raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl.

The situation came to light when the girl’s uncle discovered her pregnancy and subsequently reported it to the police.

According to Mashonaland East police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi, the incident began in July when the girl ran away from home after misbehaving and stayed at a friend’s house. One afternoon, while the friend was in Harare, the girl’s friend’s father approached her, proposing marriage. The girl refused his advances.

Reports indicate that he then went into the bedroom where the girl was sleeping, closed the door, and raped her. He threatened her not to disclose the incident, warning her that she would be killed if she did.

The matter only surfaced on September 16, when the girl’s uncle heard rumors about her pregnancy. He spoke to her, and she revealed what had happened. On Monday, he reported the incident to ZRP Murehwa. The suspect remains at large, according to Insp Chazovachiyi.
