In a horrific incident that unfolded in Zvimba, a woman named Evangelistah Chadzingawafa (42) sustained severe injuries after being assaulted by her husband, Musa Hove (41). According to the police report, the violent altercation occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The couple had been embroiled in a longstanding dispute, as Hove had been insisting since 2020 that they kill their third-born child for the purpose of performing rituals to create wealth and enhance their business. However, his wife had firmly refused to go along with this disturbing demand.
On the night of the incident, the couple was sleeping in their bedroom when Hove suddenly woke up and began accusing his wife of not respecting him. He then instructed Chadzingawafa to go sleep in the spare bedroom with the children, which she did.
Moments later, Hove followed his wife with a hammer and struck her twice on the head. Chadzingawafa managed to disarm her husband, but Hove then proceeded to bite her right hand. Fearing for her life, the injured woman went to the police, leading to Hove’s arrest.
The case was brought before the Mbare magistrate, Ms. Winnet Joni, with Mrs. Idris Mupandasekwa representing the state. This tragic incident has once again highlighted the need for greater efforts to address domestic violence and protect vulnerable family members.
