ZIMRA Implements Mandatory Tax Clearance Certificates for Professional Body Registration.

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has announced that it is now mandatory for members of professional bodies to obtain tax clearance certificates.

Professional bodies will only register members who provide a valid tax clearance certificate, which must be issued no more than thirty (30) days prior to submission.

This requirement aligns with recent amendments to the Income Tax Act [Chapter 23:06], enacted through Finance Act No. 2 of 2024.

Members of the following professional bodies are required to comply with this new regulation: Architects, Engineers and Technicians, Land Surveyors, Legal Practitioner Auditors and Accountants

Those who do not possess a tax clearance certificate will not be registered by their respective professional bodies.

This initiative aims to ensure that professionals fulfill their tax obligations and maintain good standing with the revenue authority, while also protecting the public from engaging with untrustworthy professionals.
