Father Receives 20-Year Sentence for Raping Underage Daughter.

In a disturbing case that has shaken the Gwanda community, a man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the abhorrent act of raping and impregnating his own 15-year-old daughter.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the accused was convicted at the Gwanda Magistrates Court for the heinous crime he committed in February 2024.

The NPAZ reports that the accused took advantage of his wife’s absence to enter his daughter’s room, where she was sleeping alongside her 11-year-old twin siblings. Under the cover of night, the man is said to have silenced the young girl and subjected her to a devastating sexual assault.

Disturbingly, the victim did not come forward immediately and the matter only came to light when the police received a tip-off that the complainant was pregnant. Investigations subsequently led to the arrest of the accused.

This profoundly disturbing incident has ignited outrage within the Gwanda community, serving a reminder of the dark realities of sexual violence that continue to plague society. The case underscores the urgent need for greater vigilance, support, and protection for vulnerable individuals.
