Residents of Norton are living in fear after the shocking discovery of two mutilated bodies in the Katanga area, raising concerns about a potential ritualistic serial killer.
The first victim, 40-year-old Patrice Chipaumire, was found on August 25 along a footpath near Knowe-Katanga Road. Authorities reported that his throat had been slit, and flesh was removed from his right cheek.
Just hours later, on the morning of August 26, another local resident, Jack Gedion, was discovered nearby with similar horrific injuries. The rapid succession of these murders has sparked widespread anxiety within the community, as many residents speculate about their safety in the wake of such brutal acts.
Norton legislator Richard Tsvangirayi expressed deep sorrow over the events, describing the situation as “two very dark days” for the community. In a heartfelt statement, he conveyed his condolences to the families affected by this tragedy, emphasizing that their grief is shared by all. Tsvangirayi has visited the bereaved families to offer support and solidarity during this difficult time.
In light of the ongoing investigations, Tsvangirayi has called for increased police patrols in the area to reassure residents and enhance community safety. He urged the people of Norton to remain vigilant, especially during late hours, and to avoid unnecessary movements that could put them at risk. While acknowledging the fear and uncertainty that now hangs over the community, he encouraged everyone to support one another, maintain a sense of unity, and remain calm as law enforcement works to uncover the truth behind these tragic events.
