Input distribution for the Climate Proofed Presidential Inputs Scheme, popularly known as Pfumvudza/Intwasa, has started with farmers already receiving their inputs ahead of the 2021/2022 summer cropping season.
Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement permanent secretary, Dr John Basera said the input distribution is now in motion.
“Pfumvudza input distribution is in full swing as we gear for the 2021/22 season,” he said.
This year, the programme has attracted many farmers who did not participate last season.
Quite a number of farmers have signed up for pfumvudza especially with the success testimonies and stories by the people who participated last year.
Farmers are required to have the Department of Agricultural, Technical and Extension Services (Agritex) certify that they have prepared their plots and will be using the inputs correctly.
This season Pfumvudza/Intwasa is expected to benefit 2,3 million households in the communal, A1, small-scale commercial farming and old resettlement schemes, up from the 1,8 million that benefitted last season.
