You Must Know Them

Samantha Murozoki

In this interview Identities Media (IM) caught up with the amazing Samantha Murozoki (SM) to catch up on her life and charity initiatives. We are thrilled to bring this story to you. Enjoy!

IM: Tell us about yourself?

SM: My name is Samantha Shingirai Murozoki. I am a 35 year old mother of two, born on the 10th of April 1985. I have two biological sons named Joshua (10) and Cairo (4), twelve children that I support and donate to mainly in Capetown where I was based for close to 5 years.

My first degree was a BA Hon. English and Communication and second was an LLB Hons Law specialising in immigration law. Both qualifications have played a strategic role in mainly illuminating my people skills and love for mankind. Through them, I want to be remembered for loving and caring in an economically stunted period of our lives in our country Zimbabwe.

IM: What drives the work that you do?

SM: I want to be that person that created opportunities, alternative living and hope for the masses. Poverty can be a thing of the past if we collectively bring to the table compassion, resources and opportunities with special consideration for the less fortunate.

Running the Kuchengetana relief kitchen is quite taxing, physically, mentally and financially. One has to want to be a part of the sacrifice to run such an operation and not to give up.

Luckily for me, when I wanted to throw in the towel, my maternal instincts kicked in on auto pilot and I have been going on strong.

Responsibility is not a walk in the park neither is it optional. I have a strong support system from my parents, partner, friends and colleagues that has played a pivotal role in balancing out the uneven terrain of the journey.

IM: What do you see in the near future?

SM: Post lockdown I envision a trust developed out of a need turning into a support base of empowerment for many beneficiaries. We’ve spearheaded poultry projects with over 500 birds in total.

We will embark on getting people trained and facilitate the turnover from academic/skill acquisition into practical take off where an income will be generated.

A culture of alternative living and supplemented income has to be instilled to avoid the instances like the mandatory Covid 19 lockdown that left even the employed citizens vulnerable.

Hopefully, we will be able to thrive as a trust and play our role in realising the necessary.

IM: What are your parting words or advice?

SM: In the 173 days we have been in motion, I can safely say that there is no mammoth task as nurturing humanity. However, it isn’t impossible to make a difference.

It may sound cliché’ but committing to carrying out an act of kindness or project is just a few jeers and speedbumps away. If you show the world consistency and transparency, they just might follow suit or aid to better your drive.
