Nyari Mashayamombe – Editor in Chief
In this interview Identities Media (IM) caught up with the phenomenal Tinashe Nyoni (TN), to learn and catch up on his work and life. We are thrilled to bring this wonderful story to you, Sit back, relax and enjoy!
IM: Tell us about yourself.
TN: I am Tinashe Nyoni, a self-motivated social change and human rights activist, a champion in entrepreneurship skills development. I am a Women Deliver young-leaders alumni, Isibindi Change-makers mentor, ACT in Africa fellow and inaugural winner of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program. Leadership promotes skill building and experiences in the areas of guiding and directing others to take action, influence the opinions and behaviours of others, contribute to well-being of their communities, and serve as role models. As a visionary youth I would like to inspire fellow youths to channel their intellectual strengths towards community development through innovation. I have a deep interest in redefining Africa’s growth and development. I would like to be remembered for the lives that l would have impacted in my lifetime.
IM: What drives the work that you do?
TN: “Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile”, the drive to see a better world for all wakes me up in the morning. Theodore Roosevelt once said “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”. Being a game-changer, l have influenced and ensured that l support several initiatives across the region- some of note are initiatives for men; these initiatives denounce patriarchy and promote gender equality. My lifelong goal is effecting positive change; inspire humans to be best versions of themselves.
IM: What do you see in the near future?
TN: I see myself as a strong force to reckon with, communities living in peace and harmony, working for the common good .Businesses will peak with young people taking it to the next level, and our beloved nation will fully democratise and liberalise its economic, social and political system.
IM: What are your parting words or advice?
TN: Life is a long winding journey, like it or not everyone has to undergo the journey and in it comes opportunities “Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises” goes a saying. When life presents you with an opportunity seize it, make the best of it. Live to fulfil your life purpose.
